For nearly two decades, I’ve worked with the natural world—cedar, fern, and other elements of nature. Over the years, these plants would whisper to me in quiet moments, urging me to create something that would honour the essence of birth and time in a way that felt closer to nature’s rhythms. For a long time, I didn’t fully understand what they meant, and I tucked the messages away in a notebook, unsure of their significance.

Over time, the messages became clearer. Fern would tell me, “I’m April,” and Cedar would quietly declare, “I’m December.” Slowly, I began to recognize these whispers not as random thoughts, but as the beginnings of something larger—a new approach to honouring the birth months in the year. I realised that these weren’t just passing ideas, but invitations to create what I now call BirthElements.

Unlike traditional birthstones, which were formalised by the jewellery industry in 1912, these elements come from nature itself, each connected to the cycle of life and seasons, reflecting the spirit and energy of the plants that have guided me through my work.

The journey from inspiration to creation took many years, as I carefully listened to the plants’ messages, wrote them down, and allowed the idea to take shape. Today, I am proud to share these BirthElements with you, offering a deeper connection to nature and the natural rhythms of the Earth.
